Global Mustard Seed Missions Inc.

"Hot off the press officially incorporated as Global Mustard Seed Missions from the state of Oregon 2/15/12. The purpose of this proposed nonprofit organization will be global medical teams that provide roving, secure services with medical and nutritional outreach in communities affected by disasters. The difference between this and many out there is our job will be focused on going into places long after the disaster response has dissipated, when the needs are magnified, unmet and rampant malnutrition and diseases plague vulnerable communities. A sustainable component will be done by teaching at least a couple of community health workers in the areas served common first aid, disease prevention and health promotion measures as well as recognition of common diseases. In the future the goal will include management of common diseases (i.e. malaria, typhoid) as it is possible to treat such conditions with medications and without a license in remote areas. Fundraising will be done by unique techniques by teams such as what I've done with T shirts and funds raised (at least 95% goal) will be to getting food and meds in country.
After approval by the newly elected Board of Directors, the application will be submitted for nonprofit (nongovernmental organization or NGO) status in March 2012 to the IRS.
This trip to Haiti is a pilot trip of the vision of what is hoped to be accomplished with the NGO.with the following objectives:
Section 2.2 Purpose of nonprofit corporation. The charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes for which this corporation is organized shall be:
[1] To be vessels of the unconditional love and compassion of Jesus Christ by rendering care to the most vulnerable as HE does without regard to ability to pay, race, creed, ethnicity or beliefs and to provide roving, secure services with medical and nutritional outreach in communities affected by disasters;
[2] To focus on rampant malnutrition and diseases plaguing vulnerable communities long after the initial disaster response has dissipated – after other teams have withdrawn from the afflicted areas and the need is magnified by a host of health-related dilemmas;
[3] To teach common first aid, disease prevention and health promotion measures to community health workers and to teach them to recognize common diseases using culturally appropriate literature in local languages;
[4] To sustain medical outreach after initial disaster response has dissipated through management of common diseases (i.e. malaria, typhoid) by teaching health care workers how to treat such conditions with medications and without a license in certain areas.
[5] To collaborate with local organizations to offer secure accommodations to mobile teams and to partner with local nonprofit establishments providing religious or medical services in the host country so that facilities may be shared;
[6] To contract for any kind of activity and to perform and carry-out contracts of any
kind necessary to, or in connection with, or incidental to the accomplishment of the purposes of this nonprofit Corporation; and

The fundraising with this current campaign has been very successful, with almost up to $5000 reached since November 2011 through generous donations and T-shirt sales. A wealth of supplies and medications have been received. Thank you kindly to each and every one of you who has donated or purchased a T-shirt and made a difference in helping those in Haiti!! This is just the start of dreams coming true in what the future holds. Developments will be made transparent as they continue to unfold.
Medications have been shipped to Haiti this week and an additional load of medications and supplies will be brought to Haiti to be directly delivered to Haitians.
